  2. Select the passage

Drag across the words on the PDF preview. You can start or end in the middle of a line and select across several lines.

  3. Review and copy

Edit the selected text if needed. Keep the source lines or join wrapped lines, then choose Copy text.

Supported documents and limits

Text mode needs a usable text layer. It does not recognize scanned pages or repair every font encoding. Reading order and paragraph breaks can need correction, especially in multiple columns.

Common questions

Does this upload my PDF?

No. Your document is read and processed in this browser tab. Selecting a built-in example fetches that sample PDF and opens it here. Your own documents stay on your device.

Can I copy only part of a page?

Yes. Select the exact characters you need, including partial lines. The preview shows your selected passage rather than automatically filling with the whole page.

Can I remove line breaks when copying PDF text?

Choose Join wrapped lines in the result panel. Blank paragraph separators are kept. Check the preview because paragraph detection is based on the PDF text positions.

Why can’t I select text in my PDF?

A page may be a scan, lack usable character information, or require a password. Scanned pages need OCR, which is not available in PDFCopy yet.
